Workspaces and members

What a workspace holds, who may do what (owner, admin, member, viewer), and how people join.

A workspace is one brain. It has its own pages, sources, members, settings and usage. Nothing crosses from one workspace to another.

Roles

Every member has one role:

RoleWhat it can do
OwnerEverything an admin can, and changes to who is an owner. A workspace always keeps at least one owner.
AdminInvites and removes members, changes workspace settings (name and picture, models, budgets, limits), and reads the usage and audit views.
MemberReads what its access allows, writes its own notes and sources, and asks questions.
ViewerReads what its access allows. Cannot write.

Owners and admins see the audit log (see Access, agents and audit).

Inviting people

Admins invite people by email from Settings → Members. The invitee signs in with that email and joins the workspace with the role you chose. Removing a member signs them out of the workspace.

Switching and picking a workspace

  • In the web app, the workspace menu lists every workspace you belong to, and New workspace creates another. You are its owner.
  • In the Mac app, the sidebar footer and the Workspace menu switch between every workspace you have signed in to on this Mac.
  • When you approve a device with livingbrain login or the Mac app, the approval page has a workspace picker, so the token is for the workspace you pick.

Name and picture

Owners and admins set the workspace name and picture under Settings → Workspace. Everyone in the workspace sees them in the top bar and the switcher. Pictures are PNG, JPEG or WebP, cropped to a square in the browser.

Members can set their own name and picture under their profile.
